Home away from home

I needed to be out of my home for 3-5 months. My desire was to reside in an area that provided the same sense of safety, community and close proximity to all major resources and entertainment as does my own home. I happened upon a home away from home by Marie and Seun and from the end of April to the end of July we felt like we were home. Firstly, their rental is equal distance approx. 25 minutes from Houston’s two major airports, which mattered because we traveled occasionally while living in the rental. Secondly, their home is close proximity to most coveted areas of Houston. Downtown, The Astros Daikin Park,The Rockets’ Toyota Center, The Houston Convention Center, The House of Blues, several venues for Performing Arts, shops, 5-star restaurants and dozens of eateries and clubs are all a 10 minutes drive away. That’s just the beginning! Marie’s and Seun’s home away from home is 20 minutes drive to one of the top medical centers in the world,The Houston Zoo, Hermann Park,The Houston Museum District, a historical golf course, and Miller Outdoor Theatre which hosts top rated no cost concerts and events; and more restaurants. And yes, their home is 20 minutes from NRG, home to the Houston Texans and The Houston Livestock and Rodeo, the largest rodeo in the world. If you don’t want to drive or ride share, the public rail is a 5 minutes walk from the rental and will get you to or within walking distance of all destinations listed above. Now, to the Marie’s and Seun’s home. The quaint two level 2-bedroom 1 bath is actually quite roomy. The location may be a garage covert because it sets towards the back of driveway. The property is well lit and unit is gated. The owners did a fantastic job of maintaining many aspects of original structure while providing great updates. The unit is clean clean clean! The ground floor has a laundry room with full washer and dryer, a small sitting area, an office nook with a desk and chair and full kitchen with plenty of storage. Upstairs opens up to a bright living space with high ceilings and large windows. You’ll find two bedrooms each with plenty of closet space, a smart television, comfortable bedding on comfortable Queen beds. In addition, upstairs has large sitting area ( more inviting and open than the small intimate sitting space downstairs) and full bath with a window. I love to work in natural light and upstairs provided that option. I was able to setup my home office in the common area upstairs without obstructing walk space or creating clutter. The windows have curtains to control how much or little sunlight I allowed in at various times of my workday. Let me not forget, there’s a rooftop patio and depending on the time of year, is a phenomenal outdoors space to relax. The neighborhood is diverse, quiet, well maintained and beautiful area of Houston. The neighborhood provides a wonderful backdrop for anyone who enjoys jogging, walking or simple strolls. I jogged and/or walked almost everyday I had available. There are a few parks, bars and restaurants along with a YMCA within walking distance of Marie’s and Seun’s home away from home. I met several of the friendly neighbors who lived on the long block and quite a few while jogging or walking through the neighborhood looking for landscaping ideas. Marie and Seun were great hosts. We experienced a hiccup or two, but these two were responsive to all of our needs. Stay here if your desire is to have easy access to multiple areas of Houston, be in close proximity to the best parts of H-Town, be able to work in a quiet home setting, enjoy your own cooking whenever you want, explore Houston by rail or to simply have a safe clean comfortable place to relax after a long day. These were my desires and Marie’s and Seun’s place didn’t disappoint.
